Powering Arizona’s Future

Solar + Storage

The proposed Javelina Solar + Storage project includes both 125 megawatts of power generation and 400 megawatt-hours of energy storage. This is enough energy to power over 23,000 Arizona homes! The photovoltaic solar arrays harvest the sun’s energy and convert it to usable electricity. Some of the energy will be stored in modern, containerized battery packs. This energy can be dispatched as-needed, providing emission-free energy even when the sun isn’t shining.

An Economic Powerhouse for Cochise County

We expect the Javelina Solar + Storage project will bring numerous benefits to the community.

  • Hundreds of construction jobs

  • Estimated $29,000,000 in state and local taxes paid over the project’s lifespan

  • High paying permanent jobs for maintenance and operations

Thoughtful Siting

The proposed location for the Javelina Solar + Storage facility is south and west of Whetstone, adjacent to an existing solar facility. The location offers several key advantages:

  • Utilize otherwise un-used private land

  • Proximity to grid interconnection reduces overhead electrical lines, reducing viewshed impacts

  • Productive land use that preserves groundwater resources
